Introduction
Land is said to be as old as Man or even older than Man, it’s importance and value can not be over emphasis.Many [people] don’t know how it came to existence but yet can kill or die just to have a piece of it. Some worships it more than its maker; forgetting that without the Maker there won’t be an inheritance to start with. To purchase a piece of it can cost a fortune mostly in urban cities but in rural areas, it can be given away without much pleads.
Lands efficacy can not be forgotten in a jiffy. Its importance is not to be compared with of the other factors of production because they themselves depend solely on it for the efficiency of their activities.
SO WHAT THEN IS LAND?
Land refers to any portion of the earth crust that is solid. Land s popularly known as a free gift of nature.
As water has no enemy the same is applicable to land as well. Because both living and non living things can’t survive, exist and even last without land.
ORIGIN OF LAND
The origination of Land has erupted great arguments form different fields of life. As discussed in the introduction above that land is older than man, so is its origination as well. According to land experts/surveyor’s; land is the combination of sand and rock particles from the earth crust. Geographer’s also agreeing with it by saying that land originated from the denudation of rocks into smaller particles which forms up to become soil. The origin of land can be traced back to the creation of the world This is the believe of the theologian’s; land is one of the creations of God when He proclaimed LET THERE BE… {Gen 1:1-3}.Some other religion {African Traditionalist as a case study} argued that a supreme being known as ELEDUMARE {translated to be God} created everything including land. Philosophers {idealist} counter the belief of both the Theologian’s and the African traditional Religion by saying “There is no God in creation everything created was a product of the mind".
USAGE OF LAND
Every creature use land every second and every minute of their lives, even the dead need land for proper rest without, which their remains will become hazardous to the human lives inhabiting there. Land can be used in various ways: like Shelter, Farming, Transportation, Infrastructure, Commercial. Security e.t.c

Land as a means of transportation
Land Transportation is the oldest form of transportation in the world and also the cheapest way of transporting goods and services from one place to another. Before the advent of Cars. Man has been migrating from one place to the other bare footed even before horses and donkeys were introduced as a means of transportation as well. Land is vital for transportation to take place properly as non of the other means of transportation can survive without the use of land, For instance the Air transportation takes up from LAND and also land on LAND. Sea transportation also does likewise as well.Infact, transportation solely depend on land for its existence. There are two major means of Land Transportation [Transportation by Rail and by Road] but our focus under this section will be on transportation by ROAD.
Transportation by Road involves the use of Bicycles, motorcycles, Cars, trucks, tractors and so on to work on land. This form of transportation is the easiest and most accessible form of land transportation in the world because some of these wheels are cheap and is affordable by the common man for movement. If the road is in a bad condition, it will definitely affect the durability of the vehicles plying that route and this might affect the owners of these vehicles economically because they will spend the money meant for other things to fix the damages incurred by their cars due to the bad road. So it is pertinent we keep our roads in good shape to avoid unnecessary expenses.
It is the duty of both the government and the citizens [The Road users] to keep these roads in good shapes. Now the Big question is what role do WE play in making sure our Road’s are in good conditions as WE use it? The answer is not far fetched;
- Always make sure you drive with care,
- Don’t drink and drive,
- Obey traffic rules and regulations and lastly
- Don’t litter the road while you drive.
If you can keep to all this things then our roads will last more and will be free of accidents.
The role of the government is to make sure the roads are maintained promptly, equipped with traffic gadgets [like traffic lights, street lights, traffic signs and so on] and above all the government should make sure that law breakers are punished squarely.
Land as a shelter
Man have been living on land for millions of years, Infact since the creation of man there has never been a better habitant for man except land. Scientist have carried out various search for a new home, they have even traveled to space in search of it, they discovered The Space but its size will not be enough to contain the whole populace living on earth today. Shelter to man is as crucial as anything because everyone needs a place where he will lay his head after the day to day work is over. Shelter here refers to building structure where men inhabit. As fish needs water to survive so does man need a house to rest. That is the reason why men will do anything between their reach to have one or rent one. Land as a shelter is what we now know as REAL ESTATE.
Real Estates are Properties that are not movable, usually buildings and the land on which they are built on. Real estate is one of the fastest growing businesses in the world today. Due to its great importance to human lives, its demand by man can be said to extremely on the high side because no one can survive without it. Real Estate depends solely on land for it to be properly erected. Though Researchers have discovered that one can live on the space and even the moon but yet not one of them have spent the whole of his life there. This I think is due to the fact that the Space has little space for all and the population there is too small compared to the earth which has over 6.8 billion people. According to Optimum Population Trust “World population is projected to rise from 6.8 billion to 9.15 billion in 2050”.Did I hear you say WOW! That was what I said myself when I saw it as well. This I think is the reason why the earth is still the only and best place to inhabit because it has enough land that can contain even 20 trillion people [even if it will happen today].
In conclusion, Land is a vital thing to human existence without which life would have been miserable for all. Its efficacy super passes all other things that were created by our creator.
